Policy Mood Custom Series Application

19 Apr 2017

The policy moods custom series application, compiled by James A. Stimson and K. Elizabeth Coggins, was created to allow users to generate custom mood series from the policy moods data. Users can select any combination of survey questions found in the Policy Agendas Project's Policy Moods dataset, and create customized series on demand. This supplements the policy mood data available in the Comparative Agendas trend tool.

The application generates two outputs for every aggregation: a .csv file with the custom mood data series and a corresponding log file. The .csv includes columns for the year ("year") and for the custom mood series ("mood"). The log file contains the survey variable names included in the series, as well as corresponding data (e.g., survey item loadings) from the mood algorithm.

To access the custom mood application, please visit this page. This application allows users to generate custom mood series from the policy moods data. Users can select any combination of survey questions found in the Policy Agendas Project’s Policy Moods dataset, and create customized series on demand.
