• Constitutional Council Rulings

  This dataset contains all rulings of the French Constitutional Council since 1959. This contains decisions concerning the constitutional review of adopted laws, but also decisions regarding French national elections and a series of other types of decisions. An exact description can be found on the website of the Constitutional Council. This dataset has been collected under the responsibility of Sylvain Brouard.

• Laws

  This dataset contains all adopted laws between 1979 and 2013. The have been recoded to fit the master codebook. This project has involved a large number of coders and has been carried out under the responsibility of Sylvain Brouard and Emiliano Grossman. The dataset contains several additional variables. Moroever, it also includes the original topic- and subtopic coding that corresponds the attached Codebook.

• Governmemt decrees

  This is based on the weekly "communiqués du Conseil des ministres", i.e. the press release following each weekly government meeting. Government decrees are decrees that have been adopted by the ministerial council, Conseil des ministres. As for the other French datasets we kept the original coding, in addition to the common CAP coding scheme. The dataset was collected and coded under the responsibility of Emiliano Grossman.

• Government bills

  This is based on the weekly "communiqués du Conseil des ministres", i.e. the press release following each weekly government meeting. Government bills are the main source of adopted laws. • Government communications

  This is based on the weekly "communiqués du Conseil des ministres", i.e. the press release following each weekly government meeting. Communications are issued as statements of individual ministries on issues of legislative interest. Political Parties

• Party manifestoes

  This dataset contains all major party manfestoes for general legislative elections in France. Party manifestoes were coded at the quasi-sentence level using the the CAP coding scheme. The dataset contains an EU dummy. Most of the current members of the French Agendas Group were involved in coding operations, which were carried out under the responsibility of Isabelle Guinaudeau.
